A piece not to decorate but to transform a space.
I wanted to use striking colours and mark making, as well as an imposing expression so that she demands the attention of the passer-by. When this piece is seen in person you can note a multitude of textures created by hand, palette knife and brush. She was inspired by my own feelings of wanting to be seen in ways other than just at ‘face value’.
Warm red mark-making anchors the composition whilst thick, fresh tones dance and reflect on top.
