Here I've been working on vulnerability and resilience. I wanted her to demand the attention of the passer-by as she invites the viewer to stand close and inspect intricacies of texture — then when the viewer steps back her presence to feel startlingly alive. She was inspired by my own feelings of wanting to be seen in ways other than just at ‘face value’.
Warm red mark-making anchors the composition whilst thick, fresh tones dance and reflect on top.
